About Arthur

Not many people start their careers as a painting contractor and become a builder and developer. But it turns out that climbing up and down ladders for twenty years is a good way to learn how to evaluate the health of a house. When I got tired of painting houses in Eugene, Oregon, I connected with two realtors and became their go-to contractor for improving houses to get them ready to sell, making required repairs, ensuring proper permitting, and sometimes even crawling through mud as a termite and dry rot contractor. It turned out I had a talent for managing the planners and inspectors at the City of Eugene development department. That, combined with all the engineers, architects, and subcontractors I knew, led me to become Eugene’s retroactive building permit specialist.

Experience

I transitioned that experience into my own real estate projects. First, building spec houses and apartment buildings near the University of Oregon campus. Then I moved to Portland, where I bought and remodeled a portfolio of homes and built additional ADUs on the properties. As an investor and landlord, I know in my bones how important it is to make smart choices in every step of a project. Now I am interested in designing and building homes for aging-in-place and developing cottage clusters of smaller homes with a focus on livability.
